πŸ““ 1.0.0.30 Accommodations for Remote Learning

One of Fidgetech's core pillars is to meet you where you are. Asking for accommodations is normal and supported! If something would help you learn or participate, please reach out. We are dedicated to making our program accessible to all.

How to Request

Contact your instructor first (day-to-day routines: pairing, breaks, camera, Discord). For longer-term needs, also contact fidgetech staff. Say what is hard and what would help or ask staff to suggest options.

Hi [instructor name], I'm [your name]. I'm finding it difficult to [example: stay on voice all day / pair for long blocks]. Would it be possible to [request: text for Scrum / scheduled breaks / written assignment summaries]? Happy to discuss. Thank you.

For technical questions, see How to Ask for Help.

Common Accommodations

Neurodivergent learning (autism, ADHD, dyslexia, executive function): breaks and pacing; written checklists and lesson summaries; async or text-based participation; optional camera/voice; sensory adjustments (notifications, screen-share layout). Pairing can be drainingβ€”shorter blocks, solo time, and structured check-ins are available. See Pair Programming and Growth Mindset.

Parents with childcare: extended breaks and partial flex time; tell your instructor your situation. Tips: working remotely with kids.

English language learners: try the Google Translate browser extension (we use Chrome in lessons).

Deaf or hard of hearing: use Discord text channels; ask your instructor to caption remote meetings.

Visual, reading, or listening preferences: Discord Text-to-Speech or the Natural Reader extension (many Natural Reader features are paid).

Limited internet or hardware: we cannot provide computers, but we can troubleshoot and discuss accommodations.

Something else? Reach out to your instructor or Fidgetech Staff. We would rather hear from you early than have you struggle in silence.
